On my walk today

It is a beautiful day here.  Cold but not too cold  A smattering of snow flakes.  A perfect day for some fresh air.

On my walk, I saw this pair of beauties;  I stopped and watched for awhile wishing I had my camera. They didn't seem bothered by my presence at all, so I gambled and went as quickly as I could back to the house for my camera.  I was betting that likely they would be gone, but they weren't.  I feel so honoured.

Gherkin and other woolly bits

Meet Gherkin.  He has been with us for about 2 years now and is an integral part of our home.  I really love this cat.  (Maybe not as much as the real cats but close)  It is made from the pattern Pickles the cat by Linda Dawkins.  The pattern calls for worsted weight but when looking for the right yarn, I came across a skein of Noro Kogarashi and loved the colour and texture.  Even though this is Aran weight, it worked beautifully.  She also has an owl pattern that is adorable.  That may be a buddy for Gherkin in the future.

The sun was brilliant here yesterday, and I kept following it around with my camera.  It is so bright and spring like.  I thought I would toss in a few winter woolly pics as well. Yarn really does dominate in my home.  There are not too many areas that don't have a skein, or a basket; throw or pillow. I often admire a very clean, modern look in a home but then I know I would not be able to live in it without a knit throw or crochet pillow or a basket of decorative yarn. I find it just adds a warming touch that I find necessary. Enjoy your day.

Inside/Outside

No finished projects today, still working on a few things, however, here are a few glimpses from the last day or two.

Firstly, whats been going on around us and followed by whats going on inside.

Enjoy your day.  Back soon with some woolly details.

Bits and Bobs

Just glimpses of whats going on around here.

Lots of fibre related things happening.  I finished son's socks and onto another pair.  A little bit of crochet (another long term project for daughter) and a cowl made of the softest and prettiest yarn.  More on that soon.

The sun is shining and it is brilliant.  However, we are expecting more snow and/or freezing rain tomorrow and something on Sunday.

Enjoy your day.

February Sock Challenge

I am joining in with Buckaloo View Sock Challenge.

Opal Yarn with aloe added from long ago stash. 2.5 mm needles.  Made for me.

Hibernating!

Wow!  We have been slammed with another winter storm.  We have so much snow in our yard, I am not sure where any more will go.  Oh well.   All is warm and cosy inside.  There has been lots of knitting.

Especially sock knitting.  This pair will be gifted. They were made with Kroy Sock Yarn from my long ago stash and 2.5mm needles

Another pair on the go are for my son.  These are worsted weight, made with Patons Classic and 4mm, 48 stitches.  Also made from stash odds and ends.  I had a helper today.

And another pair off the needles.  I believe these were made with an Opal yarn that I have had for ages.  Ball band missing but they had aloe added.  I do remember that.  They are super warm and snuggly and I think they will be mine. I am joining a monthly sock challenge with Buckaloo View and this will be February's contribution. I know, I am joining late but better late than never, right?

I am hoping to join along with Alice at #personalmysterysockclub on Instagram. You pick a sock yarn per month from your stash and surprise yourself by picking premade kits. It sounds like a good way to motivate yourself to use stash sock yarn.  I have some that has been around for quite awhile.

I also have plans to make some crazy socks with some of my leftovers.  They have been accumulating over the years.  I do make baby and toddler socks but I never seem to get anywhere in my leftover tiny balls.

Anyway, that's whats been going on here.  Hibernating, knitting and staying warm.
